A short boat trip on the Lago Maggiore will bring you to one of the Borromean Islands, the Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermen’s Island), just a little more than a rock-cliff.
This tiny and picturesque island, measuring 350 by 100 meters, is inhabited by a small community of about 50. At one time the principal occupation of the islanders was fishing and there are several characteristic blue fishing boats along the shores that some families still use to fish the lake.

Stroll around the island on your own for a while. Walk along its harbor and its narrow cobbled streets with charming houses, stone portals and attractive underpasses. The Church of St Vittore, declared national monument, still keeps its original apse with one-light windows dating back to the 11th century.

We will gather at the Restaurant Verbano on the most southern point of the island. Pre-dinner drinks will be served on the terrace, from which you have beautiful views on the “sister”-island Isola Bella, the lake and the shore with impressive villas. The dinner will be served in the restaurant where you can taste typical dishes from the local cuisine.
